Among Thai mangoes, only Nang kang wan variety was permitted to export to Japan in 1987 on the condition of VHT, but shortly after three other verities including Nang Doc Mai were allowed to export.
"Fruit Kingdom Thailand" is producing a plenty verities of mango and Thai people are enjoying them even at their green stage for its crispy touch of mouth. Instead, they had hard time in narrowing down to the variety most suitable to export.
But in 2005 Nang Doc Mai variety finally established the position of the best variety for export.
In addition to the natural super sweetness, growers efforts such as improving variety and bagging technique contributed to successful export.
This Thai mango resembles to Philippine mango in yellow color and shape.
But it is larger in size and more pointy in shape.
Above all, no other mangoes in the world can beat it in sweetness, which is the reason for gaining popularity rapidly.
