Carabao mango is classified as smaller mango (average 230 gram), but very excellent yellow mango full of beta carotene. Melting touch of mouth together with delicate sweet and sour combination have been pushing up the carabao to the top class of mango in the world.
This variety landed Zambonga of Mindanao Island in 15th century via Indonesia and expanded into Bisayas. Above all, ones grown in Gimalas obtained a very high reputation and many people started to grow in Luson. Now the middle west coast of Luzon such as Zambales has become most famous production area in the Philippines. However Luzon is attacked by Monsoon trade wind in June and production comes to an end. Alternatively other islands begin to produce. Philippines is a unique archipelago country consisting of about 7200 islands and mango is produced all year round somewhere in the country.
We set up a VHT packing plant in Metro Manila in 1987 and constructed another one in Davao in 2006 and have been exporting Carabao mango to Japan through the year. This mango has established the No. 1 position as a material for confectionary such as mango pudding and also has become an inevitable desert menu of the major family restaurant chains.
