Papaya are available in most sub-tropical and tropical zones throuhout the world.
But its shape, size and taste are totally different depending where it grows.
And only Kapoho Solo variety, so called 'crown jewel of papaya" combines the condition of taste, shape and size reqired for the high class dining table.
Misteriously, only in Kapoho district it grows without trouble.
We cannot grow it successfully even in the other side of the Island of Hawaii (Big Island).
People say it's a gift of young volcanic soil of Mauna Kea which contains a plenty of mineral.In that special area Kapoho papaya bears 350~700 gram of fruits with yellow,sweet and high density pulp.
"Sunrize Solo" variety with juicy and reddish-orange flesh is an inbred strain made by University of Hawaii.
It grows relatively everywhere but still motherland is Hawaii.
