We expanded into Australia from 1993.
Among many Australian mangoes, 4 varieties are permitted entry to Japan. We chose Kensington pride for the year end sales in Japan (start of summer in south hemisphere) and Keitt variety for the marketing from February. Especially, Kensington Pride is particular to Australia and many gourmets don't hesitate to nominate it the world best mango evaluating its beautiful pinkish skin and marvelous flavor.
It is popular among Japanese consumer as "peach mango". This mango is said to be brought into Australia from India by sailormen in 19th century when the horse trading is thriving between the two countries. Most of the mango in the world are originated from India and this unique Australian mango's ancestor are well known in India as a top class variety . We can say that it has changed to the most beautiful mango by the climate and soil of some region in Australia.
Keitt variety's home town used be Florida and its skin color is green. But the skin turns to reddish only when grown in Cairns highland, especially at Muchilba where our packing shed is. It looks totally different from normal Keitt so we named it "machilba Mango".
We are shipping both of them after fully ripeng by our exclusive method so that Japanese consumers can eat just after purchasing. "Wrapping up fruit by sox with cheak of the mango up" is now very comman packing method, but it is the way we adopted first for this mango.
